
Marcelo Gama, born in Brasília, Brazil, in 1984, received his first piano lessons at the age of ten. He studied at the Escola de Música de Brasília, the Universidade de Brasília with Belkiss Carneiro de Mendonça and Prof. Ney Salgado and at the Escuela Superior de Musica de Catalunya in Barcelona with Jordi Masó. In 2005 he studied at the Karlsruhe University of Music with Prof. Kaya Han, with whom he completed his Konzertexamen.
Marcelo Gama has taken part in various music festivals such as the Summer Courses for New Music Darmstadt, the International Music Festival Campos do Jordão and the European Academy Montepulciano. Here he had the opportunity to work with artists such as Paul Badura Skoda, Nikolas Hodges, Toshio Hosokawa, Jean Louis Steuermann, Richard Bishop and Wolfgang Rihm.
In 2006 he was the winner of the Kranichstein Music Prize for young interpreters of new music.
Marcelo Gama performs as a soloist and as a chamber musician with musicians such as Eduard Brunner, Isao Nakamura, Lucas Vis and Gérard Buquet. His repertoire ranges the piano literature from the baroque to contemporary music.
